    Urbanite or Rugged Good Looks

    28.03.06

“Do women really prefer these made over guys shown in Queer Eye for the Straight Guy? Does that mean if you have a more rugged look it’s hopeless?” That was the question asked recently by a friend over coffee. “Do they really prefer the yuppie looking dandy over rugged, good looks”.

Finding a match can be like looking for a needle in a haystack and when the women were asked the answers were as varied as the women. Some liked them “citified”. Others liked them a little bit country. Some said they wanted men who were men.

One woman explained it very well. As Penny explains it no matter what he looks like in terms of God-given endowments, it’s what he did to maximize it that makes a difference to the women. Generally, everyone likes their dates clean, basic hygiene is a must, but the scent of sweat especially on a hunky guy can be very appealing.

Dressing well is also a plus but not a necessity. It just means that you get the ladies attention faster, in a good way and not as a clown. Some men look great with long hair and a beard. It can actually make them more “manly” but trimming is definitely a must. Who wants a date with the ZZ Top?

Shows like Queer Eye are actually great for both the men and the women because it’s about more than just the looks (keep it up Fab5!) The girls appreciate that they try to help the guys become a bit more well rounded, improve the look of their home and give them some culture. Girls love men who are always willing to learn something new and try it out (and it’s not necessarily the daring stuff like X Games!)

    Planning a Rehearsal Dinner

    28.03.06

The rehearsal dinner is one element of the wedding planning that can be confusing for the future bride and groom. Questions such as do we really have to have a rehearsal dinner, what do we do at the rehearsal dinner, who pays for the rehearsal dinner, who is invited to the rehearsal dinner and do we have to invite out of town guests are planning questions that remain unanswered for many couples. While the rehearsal dinner may just seem like another expense and another task that needs to be completed, it’s important to not skip out on this wonderful opportunity to get together with close friends and family members for a night of relaxation in a casual atmosphere before the wedding. This article is intended to answer some of the questions surrounding the planning of a rehearsal dinner and to provide the couple with some necessary information to help them plan a successful rehearsal dinner.

While a rehearsal dinner is not necessary, it is a good opportunity to get together with close friends and family members to thank them all for their participation and assistance during the planning of the wedding as well as their participation in the actual wedding itself. The rehearsal dinner gives the couple the chance to extend their thanks to everyone who has been involved with the wedding planning or who has simply supported them in their efforts. The rehearsal dinner can also be the opportunity to relax and unwind before the wedding. The couple is able to put aside their concerns over their upcoming nuptials and enjoy the time with family and friends. The rehearsal dinner has become a common tradition in weddings but the couple is not obligated to host a rehearsal dinner if they choose not to do so.

    Planning Weddings with Themes

    28.03.06

Planning a wedding with a theme can be a fun way to incorporate a specific interest that the couple shares into the wedding. Themes are a fun way for the couple to express themselves and share a little bit of their personalities with the guests. The theme of the wedding can be incorporated into just about every aspect of the wedding. From the couple’s attire, to the decorations, music, favors and even wording of the vows the couple can ensure that every aspect of the wedding reflects their chosen theme. While incorporating a theme into a wedding can be a lot of fun, it’s important to not go too overboard with the theme because the results could be extremely tacky. Below are just a few examples of wedding themes and how they can be incorporated tastefully into your ceremony or reception.

A medieval theme is a popular choice for couples who pine for the romance and tradition of earlier times. You could incorporate this theme by making your reception a costume party and suggesting that your guests dress accordingly. The couple could choose their attire to reflect the theme by wearing outfits that are indicative of the chosen time period. They can do this by either renting costumes or searching far and wide for attire that suits their needs. This theme can also be carried over into the food and entertainment choices. A couple may opt to have a multi-course meal that includes traditional medieval fare. They may also wish to provide entertainment such as musicians and troubadours to perform between each of the courses. Using medieval language during the ceremony and in the vows is another way to incorporate a medieval theme.
